I read the news today

Today was a good day. A good day indeed. Infact, I had the feeling it was going to be a good day so I decided to document it.
I don't know why I don't usually get up at 7.30am on a Sunday morning!

One should not judge how one's day will be based on breakfast. The thought of peanut butter on toast was swell. However, with peanut butter toast being the stickiest of toasts, i advise that one should not eat it while lying down. I chose to eat this toast while reading in bed (like I used to do all the time) and it seems I can't do that anymore. It got stuck somewhere in my organs and I had to steam it out with some tea.
However, I note now that I don't usually have tea in the morning and it was quite enjoyable. Perhaps this is a thing that should be done (duh, everyone says).

I'm reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's been thoroughly recommended by my entire family to me, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, but I won't go into it because it's too early.

I went for a bike ride. This photo makes it look like it must have been some sort of beautiful warm autumn ride, but that's just because I took the photo inside in the yellow light. In actual fact is was raining and utterly dreary.
I drove to a good riding spot because my house is on a hill and it's all well and good to ride down the hill but when you're having a mini asthma attack and trying to get home, the hill is no longer your friend.
I think I looked like a real lunatic on my ride. I was wearing orange pants, a huge pink jumper, a black coat and a green beanie with my helmet perched what seemed like meters above my head.
Also, riding in the rain is different to not riding in the rain. You fall down more.
That sounds negative, but actually I loved my ride.

There was a long time where in the middle of the day where I forgot about photographing because I was cleaning my room, and then Steph showed up all of a sudden and we sat around for hours talking about catheters.

Then I went for another bike ride, with mother this time, and then decided to wander around my yard in the rain taking photos. My yard looks so much better in the rain.

I put some drifting clouds on my wall.

I wrote a letter.

I made a photo wall.

And I sewed half a dress! I'm so excited about this dress, I've never sewed clothes before but I had this lovely vintage dress that just wouldn't fit me, so I somehow made a pattern out of it! I bought this fabric from spotlight, it was in the craft fabric section and I thought everything would be too expensive, but this was $15/metre reduced to $3/metre! Bargain!

And then I went to bed. :)

P.S. I was meant to post this yesterday but I got too tired and couldn't concentrate anymore so I went to bed.

Who wants free clothes?

Happy Sunday everyone,

I'm cleaning out my closet and giving most of the stuff to Vinnies, but I thought there were a few pieces in there that don't fit me anymore that I thought I would offer up for grabs first!
I'll give them to you for free, except for some money for postage. And I'll send it international if anyone wants it!

It's a bit of a long shot but I thought there might just be something that catches your eye!

(I apologise for the terrible photos, I just couldn't be bothered putting in any effort so you'll have to use your imagination!)

Left skirt: I actually really like this skirt and almost just then decided not to give it away, but I just never wear it. It's brand is Fashionfair and it's size 10 (Aus). It's a floral waisted skirt with a ribbon at the top.
Right skirt: Brand is 'xception' (so you know it must be good). This is a black with red polka dots skirt with a floral pattern on sewed on the bottom right corner.

Left skirt: This is a pretty good skirt, I would have worn it more but at the time (like 5 years ago) waisted skirts weren't 'cool' and of course I had to be 'cool'. It does have a small pen mark on the front. Pretty much a white skirt with rainbow stripes going downward and pockets. Brand: Purr, Size: 8

Right skirt: Brand: Sunny Girl, Size: 8, a bit of a pixieish cut, gathered at the top, has three beaded pink flowers on the bottom.

This is a good 'un, I'd probably still wear it if it fit. Brand: Miss Shop, Size: 8. Hipster woolen mini skirt, pleasts, pink and grey tartan.

Right top: I got a lot of compliments in this top! It's a horizontal striped top with a bit of a white boat neck with two buttons on it. Brand: Tightrope, Size: M

Left top: Bought this because I thought it was cute, but I don't really wear white tops very often! It has a picture of a robot with a gun shooting out shiny red lovehearts. Brand: Supre, Size: M

If you're interested in any of these just shoot me an email, gracie.johns@gmail.com. The first person to express interest can have it, or if they change their minds then the next person can have it! If you want to know measurements or more details just email me.

I’m-a I’m-a a diva

This post is dedicated to Justine – who won’t read this – but who is finishing up at my workplace today! (Don’t gooo Jusssstttiiinnnneee!)
In the paper I work at we have a section called ‘Page 3 Girl’ which is... pretty much... a girl on Page 3. It’s not like the old-days though, she’s fully clothed and we have an equivalent part for men further back in the paper.
Anyway, we have a little thing we do sometimes, that when people leave we feature them in one of the sections! So this week Justine is our Page 3 Girl!
I took her photos a few days ago, and we chose a tame photo as to not upset the readers, but I thought I’d show some of the others because I think she’s a very good model for this kind of stuff and it was a pleasure to work with her.

[P.s. none of these photos were retouched in any way (like most of my photos)]

Oh triple j, you always know what to say

I wrote my name in your book

Goood Afternoon chums. How are you?
I finally got around to taking an outfit shot. It's been rainy and miserable here (I actually like rain) but I haven't felt like going outside! Or generally taking pictures of myself.

It's all happening at the moment, people leaving the office, me... doing things. I've been eating terribly the past three days I don't know what's come over me. Sorry that was just a random thought I decided to chuck in there.

I'm working on finally giving my blog a layout, as you may be able to see I've added three little linky things for my labels. Problem is I didn't actually have a label for photography or art and craft so I'm having to go through all my old posts and give them labels.
To add to all of it, my computer isn't too happy at the moment so it's all very slow!

I think I might go for a bike ride tonight. A night ride. It's dark by the time I get home, and I was trying to make myself go for a ride in the rain and dark the past few days but I just couldn't do it so I sat infront of the heater playing doodle jump instead.

I just realised that of the four photos I picked out of this little shoot i'm doing the same pose in them all. I did other poses but I just didn't like how they looked.
Hmmm. Need to work on that Grace.

Here's a different one. Just to mix it up.

Skirt: Quirky Circus by Mink Pink
Top: Miss Shop
Shoes: I need new ones
Scarf: Temt

Photoshop fun

It was pouring raining today and I didn't get a chance to take an outfit shot, and I have a few photos that I forgot to transfer to this computer so I can't upload them... but I still wanted to post!

So I thought I'd post some little photoshop things I did with Zoe about...3 to 4 years ago! They're ancient but I still find them quite amusing!

Those last two were taken about 2 1/2 years ago, right near the end of Zoe and my HSC. Blurgh.

If I recall correctly the top ones were done when Zoe and I were very bored one night when her mum and mine were having dinner at Zoe's house!

Has anyone else made any of these fun photoshop pictures before?

All the royal places

These are the photos I said I'd post from Rosemary and I's jaunt around Sydney-town. It wasn't the biggest jaunt, but we did take photos in the Queen Victoria Building and the 'Guvnah's House'.

I think Rosemary's outfit was the winner of the day. That bag, oh that bag.

(Rosemary I just realised I forgot to get the piano one. It can have a post of it's own :p)

Rosemary can feel free to post her outfit details as a comment if she wants :)

Aaand here's my outfit for that day.

I had a slight problem with my t-shirt, in that it was horizontal striped and made me look GIANT CHESTED haha but oh well. I wore my cardigan buttoned up for most of the photos,

but I did have to show off my t-shirt because I love it.

This photo symbolises the... err... trek of the city.

Skirt: Sportsgirl
T-shirt: French Kitty
Cardigan: Bluejuice
Ring: I'm not sure, it's from Iglou

My weekend mind was full of much planning, namely some plans to do some fashion-esque photographic series. I think I need to move into series. Hahaha.

letters to myself

To Grace

re: lunch

Please do not, however much you want to, eat a foot-long sub for lunch. You do not need that much sub. You know this, as after the first half you started feeling sick. And contrary to what your mind thinks, you will not be satisfied with 'not eating again until dinner' in exchange for said sub. In fact, what were you just trying to convince yourself that you could have? A strawberry milkshake. And as you were typing out this email what were you still trying to convince yourself you could have? A strawberry milkshake.
A 6-inch sub will suffice.

Everything's coming up Millhouse!

Hi everyone!!! I'm in a very pleasant mood this Friday afternoon for several reasons.
1. It's FRIDAY AFTERNOON! Yippeee! If I was actually doing something this weekend I might be more excited, but I'm working on Saturday night at job 2 and photoshopping all weekend. Which is fine by me. I'm going to photoshop and design and exercise and sleep!
2. This exhibition that I'm featuring in is alll coming together wonderfully. I've had heaps of positive feedback from the curator so I'm ever so excited to see them up in a gallery! Eeep!
3. This is the 3rd day this week that I've posted an outfit shot. Woo woo!
4. I've been getting heaps of blog comments lately, which makes me just smile all over.
5. The curator of the exhibition that I'm going in has recommended me as a photographer to collaborate with this AMAZING Australian artist who does body painting! (As in, where he actually paints on the models body), he's done a feature in Harper's Bazaar and he's amazing and I'm just BURSTING with excitement. And nervousness. And excitement.

How are you?

This is what I wore today :)

Skirt: Quirky Circus, $30
Top: MissShop, ancient!
Cardigan: French Kitty
Boots: Target

Winter was on us at the end of my nose

So... I don't really think this outfit post is blog worthy but I'm posting it anyway. That's how my reasoning works in everyday life you see. I can't afford this. I'll buy it anyway. This dress doesn't suit my figure. I'll buy it anyway.

So that is the case with this dress. BUT I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH! I bought this dress like 2 or 3 years ago when I actually was slimmer but the principle is the same. It's a straight up and down 60s ish dress... I have an hour-glass ish figure [thanks Steph :) ]. I usually try to accentuate my waist but sometimes I just give up in the hope that the coolness of the piece of clothing will make everyone forget about the blunder.

To add another kick in the shin, I don't even know if this is a dress. It's kind of a shirt. I think if I had no boobs it would be a dress but I do and it doesn't really cover much. So I wear it with tights, not something I do often but... see above.

Anyway, 'shut up and show me the pictures Grace' ye all say. But the point I'm trying to make is this: I don't pretend to be or want to be perfect, and I don't want my blog to be showing how great I look all the time (that's if I ever look great...). So I'll show my failings and my succeed...ings and hopefully you won't all hate me or something. I just don't want to be super vain.

[now that I look at the pictures I chose I realised that I might not look as bad as I'm describing. But that's just because I deleted most of the pictures I took ;)]

Anyway, with all the seriousness out of the way... LOOK AT THE PRETTY PATTERN!

I also wanted to say a bit THANKS to all my commentors and followers. I love you all, you're just lovely. I have 22 followers now which probably isn't much but it makes me very pleased. And please keep commenting! It makes me ever so happy.

drummer boy

Yesterday during my lunch break I took photos of Alex.

Alex plays many-an-instrument. Including the african drums.

He wasn't very enthused.

But he did play me a few mad beats.

Then he just tried to go to sleep.
